Hi-Fi Do's Online Newsletter July 10 , 2004 It is usual for us to buy CDs when we are impressed by live concert. After that some people are enthusiastic about going to live house who find the live performance is the best. Others are interested to reproduce the same sound of live performance through audio gears. There are the others who are interested in both CD and live performance. In this week, there is a Live Concert Report on Piano Trio in Royal Horse. When I opend the door, which looked like a Jazz Club in N.Y., I was excited to hear the live sound of his rehersal. I asked to take his photograph of playing the piano and took one, then I found no memory left for my camera. I went out to get a memory stick immdiately. I was hungry and ate Carbonara and pizza recommended by Manager of Royal Horse. Soon the table seats were full with couples and friends and the live concert started. I am a beginner of Jazz but gradually I remembered the title of Jazz music. I felt comfortable with piano performance by Fumio Karashima in "You and the night and the music" and the bass sound was effective in trio performance. I was interested in Yosuke Inoue through the interview in World Jazz Warehouse. His performance was very strong and his sound was deep with light tune though he looked gentle. My favorite in the first stage was "Mr. P.C." which was an up-tempo music with high-hat cymbals by Shingo Okudaira. I enjoyed a well-balanced and harmonic performance. At the second stage, they performed "It's just beginning" which sounded like a Latin music and Karashima played piano like percussion. Inoue tapped the body of wood base. Okudaira played drum by his hands instead of sticks. It was an interesting performance in different style. I found that the arrangement and formation gave an great effect on Jazz live. I am looking forward to Live performance next time. Let's go to Live House. You will be moved by Jazz performance and enjoy it. I am satisfied with the excellent recorded sound which is very clear and comfortable. Many Jazz fans are attracted by Hyper Magnam Sound with 24 bit digital system which enables to reproduce the sound through speakers at same level of the live performance. People realize that the power and emotion are more important for Jazz when they listen to the sound by Venus Record. It is difficult to reproduce Jazz CD at home at the same level of live performance but you can enjoy the piano trio performance with high quality sound of live performance. That is the reason why Venus Record is particular about Piano Trio CDs. The best way to enjoy Jazz Live is to listen to it sitting in the front row. "Hi-Fi Do is open 365 days." I said. He went there and the manager recommended him LUXMAN 38FD and he called me to ask my advice because I used the same model before. "You should try listening to it before buying it. I will go there within 30 minutes." I said ,then I rode a bike as soon as I hung up. He relaxed to sit in the chair and was listening to music by 38FD connected to 4312B speaker. I recommended him to buy them as beginner's model but he decided to buy amplifier first and buy the speaker when he got salary in the next month. "4312B speaker might be sold out by the next month." I said. "The same one is available in Ohsu and Nipponbashi shop, so don't worry. We will supply the speaker which is suitable for your amplifier within your budget. We'll welcome you anytime." The manager said. My friend was so glad for his kindness and he treated me on the way home. He called me when I relaxed by listening to the music at home. He told that he connected 38FD to his speaker but he found that the sound was better when it was connected to 4312B in Hi-Fi Do. His speaker was a cheap one inclueded in a set of minicomponent worth 9,800yen. I said,"No wonder the quality of speaker is quite different." I gave my spare speaker to him and replaced it. Then, he was satisfied that my speaker reproduced the sound as 4312B. To be continued. 4.Assembly and Disassembly - TEAC X-10R The information of repair and overhaul of open-reel deck is as follows: Most manufacturers do not have spare parts for open-reel deck in their stock, and they hardly accept repair and overhaul. TEAC acccept the maintenance for the decks which spare parts are available in stock. In fact it is more difficult to repair and overhaul open-reel deck as compared with audio amplifier and it cost more.
