1."Walking around Akihabara" by Taro Akiba

"Walking around Akihabara #2"

My audio image has been completely changed since I bought SUNSUI
HF-V60 produced in 1956.
It sounded as if I listened to the piano just being played next to me.
The sound of transistor amplifier which I had before generated
mechanical sound. However, HF-V60 with tubes seemed to generate
natural sound. It was so old product that I wanted to replace condenser
and resister.
I transferred the diagram to the paper before disassembling it
because I was hardly familiar with electricity. Fortunately, a small
diagram was attached at the reverse of hood and I also transferred it
to the paper.
The next day it sprinkled and I went to Akihabara by train. First I
bought a soldering iron at the parts shop.

http://www.hifido.co.jp/merumaga/040423/photo/akiba_taro.jpg

I found wire produced by Western in the '50s which price was
JPY 2,000/meter.
It seemed expensive but I bought 5 meter. In addition, I got
condenser and resister.
Then, I went to Hi- Fi Do and the manager asked me, "Why did you come
here in the rain?"
"I disassembled Sansui Amplifier and I came to get their parts."
I said.
"Have you already disassembled it? Can you reassemble it by yourself?"
He said. "I think I can manage to do it." I said.
The manager said, "Disassemble might not so easy as you expected and
it might be better to leave it specialist.
If you are not able to do it, I arrange to reassemble it with our
service maintenance."
His suggestion made me decide to disassemble it without anxiety. I
wonder if I could accomplish it.

To be continued.

5.Moriyama warehouse story

Manager of Moriyama warehouse is Hi-Fi Do's president, Mitsuo
Teramoto. We would like to introduce the history of Moriyama
warehouse.
Mitsuo Teramoto owned an audio franchise store in 1995 when he was
44 years old.

http://www.hifido.co.jp/merumaga/040423/photo/boss.jpg

After canceling franchise contract, he established Hi-Fi Do on
February 1st in 1996. At that time there was only one part-time staff
in a small shop and few customer visited Hi-Fi Do.
He decided to launch internet shopping and opened Hi-Fi Do website on
the Internet, however, those days such online shopping was not so
popular that there was few inquiry.
Gradually the number of inquiry was increasing by advertisement in
Audio Magazines and one day he received the fortunate call as turning
point of his business.
It was a call from the president of a company in Tokushima who wanted
to sell audio equipments before bankruptcy . Just before rushing to
Tokushima, Teramoto received another call from a customer in Kochi
who wanted to sell ALTEC BARCELONA.
He rented a 4 ton truck and drove to Tokushima and loaded a lot of
audio equipments into his truck.
Then, he drove to see the owner of BARCELONA.
The owner wanted to buy a pair of McIntosh MC60 when Teramoto showed
him audio equipments loaded in his truck and they started price
negotiation for MC60.

Finally their price negotiation was completed successfully.

http://www.hifido.co.jp/cgi-bin/newhifido_info5.cgi?code=04-18290-23883-00&lang=e

Teramoto displayed audio items loaded on his truck at his shop and
posted them on Hi-Fi Do's website when he returned to Naygoya. Then,
he rented Moriyama warehouse to store the stock items on
August 7 ,1988.
There are a lot of junk items stored in Moriyama warehouse but some of
them might interest audiophiles.
Teramoto is waiting for you at Moriyama warehouse.
